I have been a clinical social worker and psychotherapist for more than 30 years. I hold a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and have been a licensed clinical social worker since 1991. I am also a practitioner of Somatic Experiencing®, having completed a 3 year Somatic Experiencing Training Program offered by SETI, the Somatic Experiencing Training Institute.
Prior to my career as a psychotherapist in private practice, I have worked as a counselor for women and couples in a medical clinic, helped bring mental health services to a broad population in a county mental health center, and aided families dealing with grief and end-of-life issues with Hospice. In addition to Somatic Experiencing, I have received formal training in a variety of psychotherapy approaches, including psychodynamic training, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprogramming (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavioral Training (DBT). I have also studied cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. II live in Raleigh with my husband, and my dog, Luna. I like to get out for a walk in the neighborhood every day. Currently I am learning about QiGong and meditation. I enjoy reading novels, spending time with my family and watching the birds that come to my back yard feeders. I like watching superhero movies! One of the things I love most is to find a new recipe and bring it to life in the kitchen. |
